Anyone for sushi (2)

Our Nufloors Auckland Floorsanding Team have been out on the town so to speak, putting in the late hours to work on a solid native rimu wooden floor at the most unlikliest venues... a sushi shop.   Its not very often that you find native flooring in a new shop environment but ..

here we are in the middle of Albany looking at restoring a solid rimu floor.  As you can see from the photos the wooden floor had sustained a fair bit of damage from the high foot traffic in and out of the shop.  The rimu floor was also showing its age through the darkness of the coat.  As you know the colour of the wooden floor tends to darken over time and with rimu it turns the wood into a chocolate colour.  So the Nufloors Auckland floor sanding team went to work after 8pm when the shop shut, we sanded the old polyurethane off and completed our fine sand ready for the waterbased product.  Why waterbased you ask? Well in this instance the shop needed to remain open for business during the day, so we needed to ensure it was dry enough each morning for the shop to resume business and of course with waterbased polyurethane there is no smell which makes it the ideal product.  The owners knew the risks of using the floor in between polyurethane coats but were happy to take them.  To be clear, we do not recommend that the floor is touched in between coats.  Polyurethane does need time to harden and walking on it before this time can lead to damage and imperfections to the coats which is disheartening for us as the tradies and for you as the customer.  In this instance however we managed to avoid extensive floor damage with the floor being covered every morning prior to the shop opening.  I have no doubt that over time the polyurethane on this rimu wooden floor will wear down again as everyone loves sushi... however our Auckland floorsanding team will be happy to return when it does.  Oh yes and the team were pretty happy to receive the end of days sushi... bonus!
