Parquet anyone?
In the late 1600's parquet flooring was first invented in Versailles, France as an alternative to the marble flooring owned by the wealthy. Small peices of hand cut coloured wood the shapes of squares, diamond and triangles were glued, scraped, sanded and then polished to acheive the desired look. If laid incorrectly the flooring would lift easily therfore only highly skilled professionals would provide this service and as such only the wealthy would have such extensive flooring installed in their homes. Hmm not much as changed today.
Many of our customers either come from or have travelled across the United Kingdom and have noted the beautiful parquet flooring across the country and still in the most afluent homes. Fortunatley we are able to have the beautiful wooden parquet flooring installed in your homes even here in little old New Zealand. Yes it does come with a price as parquet is generally made with solid oak and of course one of our professional Auckland installers will come out to install this flooring, but it certainly stands out as a different choice in flooring and the design and quality of a herringbone parquet floor speaks for itself. I am sure you will agree from the photos.
This is a job that our Nufloors Auckland floor sanding team completed out in Beachlands. Although we didnt lay this floor the photos on the right are of the finished parquet which has been sanded and polyurethaned by our floor sanding specialists. Waterbased polyurethane with a matt finish has been used providing a lighter brighter parquet finish.
