Bourbon Gold

Bourbon Gold.
Some people prefer tiles to wooden floors but not me... the cold hardness chipable surface to the warm firm but flexible feel of wood beneath my feet really is no competition.  So 7 years ago when we moved into our 1900 bungalow the choice was easy... polished wooden floors in the kitchen family/dinning and hall.

Oh yes I remember how exciting it was  when we pulled up the original carpet and saw the untouched native kauri timber.  And then afterwards being so satisfied with the hard work and the golden yellow gleam that the last coat of 10/50 max left.  But 7 years of wear and tear ... cats..dogs...birds and people left the floor tired and worn... so it was time to work on convincing my husband the awesomest floor sander in the world to spend his long easter weekend re sanding and re polishing our tired floors..
As for the colour... I had had my years of yellow and this was not my preference moving into this century there are so many options available to you andHugh Bolton (my husband) or Darryl Harford  (the owner) can show you them all.  They are not shy to explore new methods or the latest technologies. .. this floor coating business is highly technical.  I seen my husband even dabble with blue and red food colouring to make test samples.. it's amazing stuff.  But anyway back to my floor.. just prior to Christmas I had the pleasure of going to a recoat with my husband at an amazing restaurant in Bombay Auckland.  They had kauri floors and had asked for them to be poly urethaned and stained a dark walnut colour... so amazing and beautiful was this floor that this is what I asked my husband to do for us.  Now don't get me wrong.. it's not all glamour and gloss having my floors done by my husband ...oh no... I did my share of hole punching and filling which resulted in the stretching of a few muscles that haven't been stretched in a while even after numerous visits to gym.. and we have had to relocate for a few days to the sons house... but I look at the last coat going on the floor and relish the opportunity to rearrange my family room and wipe down all the surfaces ..fresh and clean because my floor at the moment can only be described as pure Mississippi bourbon gold.  Dark beautiful and smooth.
