Tutanekai St, Matai Flooring

Tutanekai Street, Water based Polyurethane, Matai Flooring, Trowel Filled, 3 coats of Low Shean Finish

Timber Species - existing Matai Timber flooring
Scope of work - rough sand, Spot fill and fine sand
Finish - 3 coats of Water-based finish low sheen with blonding agent

Tutanekai Street is a house done up by a regular customer close to the city. The customer wanted something different with this wood floor and choose to blond it. Now if you happen to be an avid reader of our blogs you might remember that I mentioned a few time about our native timbers.
In the land of the long white cloud or New Zealand if you prefer our natives don't take kindly to been stained or floor blonding. However in the case of this matai wooden floor the customer wanted it blonded and thats that. When you blond some natives directly to the floor with the product it can change its colour for a few months. In this case it went pink. Now before you panic and decide this isn't for you it does dry out and eventually goes white so all so there is no need to have a panic attack.

These are many of the things discussed when we come and give you a free quote. floor Blonding can require many coats to get the effect that you may like. However if you would like a tinge of white just to give it a lighter look this can be done in the last two coats. You may still get a light pink look though.
In relation to this job. Several months later when the project was completed and placed on the market it looked friggin awesome. So there you go. Sometimes good timber flooring can take time.
